Sea Cycle

Whimsical, pedal-powered kinetic sculptures evoke sea creatures real and mythical, inviting joyful, imaginative play and exploration.

Dramatic teeth, glitter-filled eyes, and a disco-ball lure add up to a goofy persona for Scarf the Anglerfish.

The Sea Cycle sculptures each have distinct personalities and an array of kinetic and tactile features that launch visitors on journeys of wonder and imagination.

For this outdoor exhibition, fantastically reinterpreted tricycles were designed and fabricated by Five Ton Crane, a Bay Area collective of artists, builders, makers, and inventors who collaborate on large-scale immersive artworks and installations.

Visitors pedal and move handlebars to wiggle the creatures’ heads and fins.
